Editorial Policy
Money decisions deserve accurate tools. This policy explains how we create and maintain the calculators and explanations on SureCalcs.
Who is responsible
SureCalcs is run by its founder, León Allende, who is responsible for every calculator and every page on the site, including their review and correction.
Accuracy first
- We rely on primary sources — the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Reserve, state revenue departments and similar authorities — and cite them on each page.
- Numbers in our explanations are generated by the same code that runs the calculator, so the text can’t drift out of sync with the results.
- Every calculator is covered by automated tests with independently verified expected values.
Review and updates
Pages show the date they were last reviewed. Annual figures (tax brackets, standard deductions, contribution limits, the Social Security wage base) are updated when official figures are published. Market figures used as defaults, such as average mortgage rates, are refreshed regularly and dated where they appear.
How we use software tools
We use software, including AI writing and coding assistants, to help draft explanations, write code and cross-check data. Everything published is checked against primary sources and tested before it goes live, and we remain responsible for every word and number on the site.
Independence
SureCalcs is supported by advertising. Advertisers never influence our formulas, defaults, results or explanations. Ads are labeled and placed so that they don’t interfere with using a calculator.
Corrections
If you believe something is wrong, email hello@surecalcs.com with the page and the details. We investigate every report and fix confirmed errors promptly, updating the review date on the page.
